data.world is looking for a Product Manager to join us as we empower our customers with the next generation of data catalog, governance, and knowledge graph innovation. Together we can help companies turn their data into knowledge, improving visibility, trust, collaboration, and value for data and analytics.

At data.world, you’ll partner with customers and users, and work cross-functionally across Product Design, Product Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Client Services and Support to shepherd our products toward maximum value and impact. This position is centered on strategic product management where you will be focused on product discovery, strategy and roadmap, requirements, execution, and go-to-market enablement.

You’ll be successful in this role if you are an entrepreneur at heart, a constant learner, have deep empathy for customers, love quantitative AND qualitative analysis, get a little too excited when you think or talk about the future of data management and analytics, and you consider yourself confident -- yet a very strong listener and collaborator.

A day in the life could involve a customer discovery interview, an engineering demo, and a product design whiteboard session in the morning, some tacos for lunch (because this is an Austin-based company after all), followed by an industry analyst meeting, a product marketing launch coordination meeting, some thought leadership brainstorming, then capped off with some email and Slack catch up and requirements updates before calling it a day. At data.world, you will:

  • Work with our customers and users to deeply understand their goals and needs; their use cases and their jobs-to-be-done, and translate them into well articulated product requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage key aspects of the market-facing, strategic product roadmap for our data catalog and governance platform.
  • Collaborate with product design and product engineering for effective prioritization and development of product projects.
  • Coordinate and contribute to product enablement with product marketing, product documentation, sales, client services and support, customer success, and our customers and users.
  • Measure and learn from our customers and users as they utilize the platform, and incorporate those insights into rapid iteration and constant evolution.
  • Do competitive and market research and assist with analyst relations.
  • Be an expert and thought leader on your market space and areas of the product.
  • Think and talk big, but then act with practicality, patience, and persistence.
  • Work in a dynamic, agile, and data-driven environment and have true ownership and responsibility for the success of the product.

We’d love to see:

  • 3+ years product management experience.
  • Worked with SaaS and/or Enterprise Software as well as data or analytics related products.
  • Strong data and analytical skills.
  • Strategic product management experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills. You should be able to articulate your decisions, whiteboard new solutions, present ideas concisely, and defend those ideas with data.
  • An appetite to try new things. You’re curious and excited to improve your process, and always looking to learn. You ask questions and don't shy away from challenges.

Big pluses include:

  • Data catalog or data governance experience.
  • Data fabric, data mesh, data observability, or knowledge graph familiarity.
